On Thursday 8th October, we held another session of the Wrecsam2029 Youth Forum, this time at Wrexham University's Creative Industries Building.
We had nine young people join us, including two new members, and it was lovely to welcome some new faces to the group.
A Look Behind the Scenes
We started the evening with a tour of the Creative Industries Building, where Steffan Owens, Principal Lecturer in Games and Creative Media Technology at Wrexham University, showed the young people around the facilities. Joining us for the evening were Morgan Thomas and Osian Andrew from Wrexham Community & Culture Trust (WCCT), who came along to explore the building with us and talk to the young people about Wrexham's City of Culture 2029 bid.
Steffan showed us around the building, including the podcast studios, TV recording studio and some of the other fantastic facilities available to students.
It was really interesting to get a look behind the scenes and see some of the equipment and spaces used by students studying creative subjects. It was also a chance for the young people to find out a little more about the opportunities available locally within the creative industries.

What Makes Wrecsam Special?
After the tour, we sat down with Morgan and Osian to talk about Wrexham's bid to become UK City of Culture 2029.
They spoke to the young people about the bid, what it means for Wrexham and the upcoming judges' visit. We also watched the Wrecsam2029 promotional video, which helped get everyone thinking about the city and everything it has to offer.
The young people were asked to share their thoughts on where they felt the judges should visit, what should be included during their time in Wrexham and what they think makes Wrexham special.
It was an interesting conversation and a good opportunity to hear things from the young people's perspective.
We've always felt that it's important for young people to be involved in conversations about what happens in their communities. They use different spaces, have different experiences and often see things from a perspective that adults might not have considered.
Having the opportunity to share those thoughts directly with people involved in Wrexham's cultural plans is an important part of what the Youth Forum is all about.

Being Part of Wrexham's Cultural Future
One of the things we were particularly pleased about was that Youth Forum members have been invited to be involved in the judges' visit.
It's a lovely opportunity for them to take what they've been discussing during our Forum sessions and potentially be part of showing the judges what Wrexham has to offer.
Over the past few months, the Youth Forum has visited different places across Wrexham, tried new activities, learned more about the area's history and culture, and shared ideas about what they would like to see in the future.
Each session has given us something a little different, and this one was a chance to connect those experiences with Wrexham's wider City of Culture ambitions.
It's important that young people aren't just asked for their opinions, but also have opportunities to get involved and see how their ideas can contribute to what happens next.
What's Next?
We really enjoyed the evening and would like to thank Steffan Owens and Wrexham University for welcoming us and taking the time to show everyone around the Creative Industries Building.
A big thank you also goes to Morgan Thomas and Osian Andrew from Wrexham Community & Culture Trust for joining us, sharing information about the City of Culture bid and, most importantly, taking the time to listen to what the young people had to say.
And, of course, thank you to our Youth Forum members who came along and contributed to the session. It was particularly nice to welcome two new members to the group.
Our next Wrecsam2029 Youth Forum will take place in November, and we're looking forward to getting everyone together again.
