Grow Together - Wrexham

🔓 Open event
Starting Thursday 20th August 2026 · 12:30 – 2:30pm
📍 Ty Pawb, Market Street, Wrexham

Grow fresh herbs and edible plants from your windowsill, with no garden or growing experience needed.

Grow Together is a free 12-week project for anyone aged 16 and over who would like to try hydroponic growing in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Each participant will receive their own free hydroponic windowsill planter, along with the equipment, seeds and guidance needed to grow four edible plants at home. You will also receive simple recipes and ideas for using what you grow.

The project includes four friendly, practical sessions where you can learn at your own pace, ask questions and get advice from our growing expert. Free food and drinks will also be provided at each session.

Hydroponic plants are easy to care for and can be grown indoors without soil, so this is a great project for complete beginners, including anyone who thinks they does not have green fingers.

Participants will need to attend all four sessions to take part in the full growing challenge.

Places are limited, so early booking is recommended.

A practical four-week course for women and girls aged 13+, designed to build confidence, awareness and everyday personal safety skills.

Done Together CIC is offering a heavily subsidised self-defence and street awareness course for women and girls in Wrexham.

Across four supportive, women-only sessions, participants will learn practical techniques to help them feel more confident and prepared in everyday situations. The course will cover personal safety, recognising potentially unsafe situations, street awareness and simple self-defence skills.

No previous experience or particular level of fitness is needed. The sessions will be practical, welcoming and suitable for complete beginners.

About the instructors

The course will be delivered by Silent Hands Kung Fu.

Chief Instructor Chris Corcoran is a retired North Wales Police Chief Superintendent with more than 50 years of martial arts experience. He will lead the sessions alongside retired Police Superintendent Paul Jones and senior instructor Hayley Scarrett.

Together, they have delivered self-defence and street awareness courses across North Wales for many years.

Making the course affordable

The course is being subsidised through Done Together CIC’s Together Fund.

We put a percentage of the income from our paid projects back into local community activities. This means that organisations and businesses that commission Done Together are also helping us create affordable opportunities for people in our community.

A recent Done Together survey found strong local interest in accessible, women-only self-defence training, particularly practical evening sessions focused on confidence, travelling alone and personal safety.

Places are limited, so early booking is recommended.
