Eight Months of Done Together: Conversations, Connections and an Entrepreneurial Mindset Award
Eight months after launching Done Together CIC, we attended Wrexham University’s Celebration of Entrepreneurship and received some unexpected recognition for how far the organisation had already come.

Eight months ago, Done Together CIC was still mostly an idea, a lot of conversations and several documents open at once.
By the time we attended Wrexham University’s Celebration of Entrepreneurship, we had delivered commissioned work, secured funding and started building partnerships. Standing behind our own stall and talking about the work as something real felt quite strange, in the best possible way.
Bev and Natalie attended on behalf of Done Together, sharing information about the CIC, the projects we had delivered and the different ways organisations could work with us.
Having a stall makes you look at your organisation through somebody else’s eyes. Can people understand what you do without hearing the full backstory? Can you explain community projects, workshops, youth engagement and project delivery without making it sound like a shopping list?
The conversations gave us a chance to talk about the work people do not usually see, planning, safeguarding, budgets, partnerships, materials and all the adjusting that happens before anybody arrives.
Done Together was created because many organisations have good ideas but not always the time, staff or capacity to deliver them. We wanted to help shape those ideas and do the practical work needed to make them happen.
Natalie was also invited to speak about Done Together and the support we received while setting it up.
There is always a temptation to tidy the story. You have an idea, receive support, follow a plan and everything falls neatly into place. That has not been our experience.
Starting a CIC has meant learning about governance, insurance, contracts, policies and funding while also delivering projects and building relationships. Wrexham University’s Enterprise team gave us people to ask, opportunities to test our thinking and encouragement when the whole thing felt slightly ridiculous.
Then came a moment we genuinely were not expecting.
Natalie received the Entrepreneurial Mindset Award.
