Done Together CIC to facilitate new youth forum for Wrexham city of culture team

Done Together CIC has been selected to build and lead the new Youth Forum for the Wrexham City of Culture team. It’s a project designed to put young people at the centre of the city’s biggest cultural moment in decades.

We’ll bring together a diverse group of young people from across Wrexham, giving them a real voice in shaping plans, events and ideas for 2029.

For us, it goes right back to our founding purpose: as Wrexham’s profile rises, its communities – especially its young people – must rise with it.

Natalie Edwards, Lead Director at Done Together, said: “Being asked to support the Youth Forum feels like a natural next step for us. Much of my career has been about working with young people and seeing, first-hand, the ideas and innovation they bring when they’re given the space to lead.

“When we launched, we said we wanted to start strong and work on projects that put local people at the heart of Wrexham’s rising star. Helping the City of Culture team to build a Youth Forum that genuinely listens to young people – and acts on what they say – is exactly that.

“We’re proud to play a role in making sure young people aren’t just part of Wrexham’s City of Culture moment but help shape what it becomes, for their future and betterment.”

What the work involves

Done Together will:

  • Develop and run the Youth Forum, including outreach, recruitment and facilitation

  • Create an inclusive, supportive space where young people can share ideas, challenge thinking and influence decision-making

  • Support the City of Culture team to integrate youth perspectives into plans for 2029 by reporting back their feedback every quarter in 2026

  • Champion diversity, ensuring the forum reflects the full range of young voices across Wrexham

This project builds directly on our mission to work with young people and underrepresented groups, while delivering work that blends social impact with creative excellence.

Amber Percy, Director of Youth & Inclusion at Done Together, said: “Young people deserve more than a token seat at the table – they deserve to shape the table itself. Our job is to create a space where they feel confident, respected and excited to speak up. This is a chance for young people across Wrexham to influence something huge, and we’re proud to help make that happen.”

A perfect fit for Done Together

This announcement follows the recent launch of Done Together. As well as supporting local organisations rooted in community purpose on their projects or needs, we also reinvest profits into our Together Fund, supporting or leading on grassroots ideas that build pride, spark creativity and tackle inequality.

The Youth Forum project aligns closely with our commitment to ensure that local people benefit from Wrexham’s growing visibility and to create opportunities for young people and diverse communities to be part of the city’s future.

It also marks a major early milestone in our aim to launch boldly and contribute to the most exciting part of Wrexham’s story.

Siân Edwards, Director of Communications & Culture, said: “Wrexham is full of creativity and potential, and young people are a huge part of that. Being chosen to support the City of Culture team shows confidence in our approach – ambitious, collaborative and rooted in community pride. We’re excited to help young people tell their stories and shape the story of the city itself.”

Starting as we mean to go on

With this project, we are already delivering on our promise: bringing professional excellence to community projects, creating space for new voices, and helping to make sure that Wrexham’s cultural moment is something every young person can be proud of and part of.
